 Our Mission

The mission of the UALE Immigration Task Force is to provide labor educators with the resources they require to effectively build and strengthen the labor movement by incorporating immigrant workers into the ranks of organized labor.

The task force will do this by engaging in activities that assist in the collection, development, and dissemination of educational materials to help shape a stronger, more unified labor movement firmly grounded on the foundation of social and economic justice; racial, gender, and LGBT equality; and civil and human rights.

We came together for the United Association for Labor Educators (UALE) annual conference in May 17th 2006 and decided to create an immigration taskforce in response to the series of massive rallies for immigrant rights that shook the country. Many of us were creating immigration training workshops for our membership and for union leaders to help them better understand the current immigration policy debate and we thought it would be useful to create a space were we could share what we learned. Our goal in creating this interactive website is to provide a collective space that allows folks that are doing labor education around immigration to share their work. We built it, but we need you to provide the content to make this website work. We invite you to share your ideas and resources, experiment and create curriculum, and to be part of this collective process that allows us to provide education about a key issue facing us today.
